Cold Weather Hits Eastern Cape
Cold Weather has hit all across the Eastern Cape this week and with that we see an increase in certain emergencies.
As chilly temperatures are experienced across the country we are seeing an increased use of heating devices and due to loadshedding this is exacerbated with the use of candles, paraffin lamps, gas cookers etc. Here are some fire prevention tips to avoid finding yourself in a potentially life threatening situation:
– Never leave open flames such as candles or a fireplace unattended
– Electric blankets should be turned off when not in use
– Make sure keys to security gates are in an easy to access location and that you have an “escape route”
– Make sure you have at least two fire extinguishers on your property and assure that they are serviced as needed
